IMO forthcoming regulation on the prevention of migration of marine invasive species will require all oceangoing ships of the world to be fitted with ballast water treatment (BWT) plant. Installation of BWT requires analytical study of CAPEX/OPEX, footprint, maintenance, safety and training against the type of the vessels, size of the vessels and the amount of ballast water they handle.
